Intermediate guitar lessons in Sydney

Already playing a few chords and songs, but not sure what comes next? I'm Kiara Fragomeli, and my intermediate guitar lessons in Sydney start from where your learner is now, one-on-one in your own home, and work on the skills that make playing sound like music.

Beyond the first few chords.

Once the basics are in place, it's easy to get stuck playing the same few songs the same way. Lessons can work on skills like these.

  • Cleaner chord changes

    Tidy finger placement and simple changing drills help close the gaps between chords, so songs flow instead of stopping and starting.

  • Rhythm, timing and strumming

    Counting, keeping a steady beat and learning new strumming patterns with up strums, accents and muted strums.

  • Fingerpicking basics

    Picking single strings with the fingers in simple patterns, a whole new sound for players who have only strummed.

  • Barre chords

    The shape many players find hardest at first, broken into small steps and built up gradually.

  • Reading tab and simple notation

    Reading tab properly, plus the basics of standard notation, so learners can work out new music on their own.

  • Full songs, start to finish

    Putting it all together: intro, verse, chorus and ending, played the whole way through rather than just the easy parts.

How intermediate guitar lessons in Sydney work.

I'm a guitar teacher who comes to you. Every lesson is one-on-one at your place, anywhere I cover in Sydney, so nobody spends the afternoon in traffic, and your learner plays in the room where they practise.

With just me and your learner in the lesson, the time goes on what they actually need, whether that's a few weeks on a stubborn chord change or moving quickly past something that clicks straight away.

How do I know if my child is ready for intermediate lessons?

If they can play a handful of open chords and strum along to a simple song, they're probably ready. If you're not sure, tell me what they can already play when you get in touch and I can suggest where to start.

My child taught themselves from videos. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Lots of players learn their first chords that way. Lessons can build on what is already working and gently sort out habits that make playing harder, like a tight grip or rushed strumming.

Do you teach advanced guitar?

No. I teach beginners and intermediate players only. Intermediate lessons focus on things like cleaner chord changes, rhythm, barre chords, fingerpicking basics, and reading tab and simple notation.
